Before Nirvana and Pearl Jam There Was .... Perry Como

Howdy Folks,

You have to love Perry Como's song Seattle - so as I sit here on 27th floor of the Crowne Plaza hotel - in Seattle - another www.priceline.com score by Bill Howe - humming the song, my mind drifts back to the events of yesterday - can you see the wavy lines, as the picture cross fades...

Left Spokane around 9:00 PM in the rain and had an uneventful, anti-climactic run into Seattle. Bill had phoned and given directions that had me right at the hotel front door - first attempt!!

Checked in - marvelled at the room - marvelled even more at the price I was not paying and then took a stroll - within 2 minutes I found this place - http://www.rockbottom.com/RockBottomWeb/RBR/Home.aspx

An oasis in a barren landscape of concrete, ashphalt and automobiles. Immediately ordered their Hop Bomb IPA. A fantastic tasty beverage vying again for the title of 'the best beer Phil has had today'.

Folks I have a confesion to make - I was there for lunch and supper - yes the St. Paddy's day celebration happened right there. I was sitting at the bar right in front of the taps and I have never seen so much beer poured in all my life!!

I mentioned it to Bill Gates (who was at the bar with me and a hell of an honorary Irishman) and he said it's like this every Friday! I also noticed he was using an Apple laptop - he's no fool!

Eddie Vedder came in and man can that guy pound it back - he was drinking their darker style beer - he being of that nature of course. He got so pissed he started screaming and hollering something about Courtney Love "fired the shotgun". I don't know - it was wild ...

The food at this place was fantastic - I had their chili for lunch and then I had something else for supper - whatever that was it was great!!

Needless to say I was not sleepless in Seattle last night.

Today I meet up with Zach Smith, number one son of Gregory & Karen Smith - 2 of most solid citizens you'll ever want to meet - and then we are going guitar shopping - that should be fun - then we'll see if he can keep me out of trouble later on today as the search for the perfect beer continues - oh yeah, what was I doing out here - right - I have to pick my nephew up in Victoria - gotta stay focussed.

OK - sing along with me,

The bluest sky you ever seen in Seattle
And the hills the greenest green in Seattle
Like a beautiful child growing up wild and free
Full of hopes and full of fears
Full of laughter full of tears
Full of dreams to last the years in Seattle

The adventure continues ....
